Comparing Pillow Boxes to Rectangular Boxes for Packaging
When designing a package for your product, there are many things to consider. You can choose to buy packages for products that are made out of cardboard, plastic, or even glass. If you are selling small products, such as snacks or candies, there are two shapes of boxes to consider: rectangular boxes and pillow boxes.
You can buy square, rectangular and pillow boxes in wholesale. These different shaped boxes have advantages and disadvantages over one another, so we are going to help you choose the best packaging shape for your products.
Square Boxes
Can be stacked better.
Square boxes can easily be stacked on top of one another for storage. When manufacturing companies are looking for packaging materials, they prefer rectangular boxes on account that they are easy to stack into shipping boxes, and you can simply fit more inside. Pillow boxes, unfortunately, have to be stacked in a way that would occupy more space, compared to a rectangular box of similar size.
Can stand on any side.
Rectangular boxes can stand on any side; On its base, on its side, and even upside down. With its wide sides, it makes the package easier to be displayed on a shelf. Furthermore, a customer can easily take an item from the box using one hand, so long as it is open and facing up. The same thing cannot be said for pillow boxes in wholesale.
More packaging options.
Because the rectangular box is a common type of packaging material, there are many more design companies that can supply you with viable labels or prints for these boxes. Because pillow boxes have a more unique shape, there are some companies that can offer you custom labels and sleeves, but their options are nothing like the one for square and rectangular boxes.
Pillow Boxes
Are more comfortable to hold.
This is a primary consideration to have for distributors. Pillow boxes as designed in an interesting, yet appealing shape that has two big curved on the front and back. Compared to a rectangular box, and especially a square box, pillow boxes are a lot more comfortable to hold in one hand. With fewer edges and corners to deal with, and a slimmer body overall, the consumer can hold the package in his or her hands with more comfort and less trouble.
Are desk-friendly.
Thanks to the slimmer nature of pillow boxes, they can be with consumers right at a desk in their home or office. That is not to say that you cannot have a small, rectangular box on your desk at any time, but pillow boxes can save space on your desk, and they are easier to get what you need from them. If you are selling snacks, pens or pencils, you will find it more convenient for desk workers to sell your products in a pillow box.
Can fit easier in a bag.
For consumers who are women, they likely want a product that can easily fit inside their bag when they already have dozens of other items already inside. Because rectangular boxes are bulky, things could get a little complicated when trying to fit a box with 6 sides inside of a small purse or bag. Thanks to the shape of a pillow box, they can easily and effortlessly work their way into a bag without having to make much room for it. This means that pillow boxes are better for storage inside of bags.
Both rectangular and pillow boxes are great choices for packaging products, so as mentioned before, one type of box is not necessarily better than the other.
