Cast Stretch Wrap
The name Cast stretch wrap is given to it because it is manufactured through a process known as cast extrusion process. This process simply involves the exposure of a thermoplastic material to extreme heat until it is melted, before undergoing other series of processes to become solidified. The advantage of this stretch wrap is due to the processes that make them require just a little force to be stretched. They are also very resistant to tears and provide enough protection for the products they are used to wrap due to their clingy attribute.
Blow Stretch Wrap
This is the second most popular type of stretch wrap, and it is named so due to its manufacturing process that involves blown extrusion. After the plastic material has been extruded and has undergone some processes, air will then be introduced to blow up the tube. This is why blow stretch wraps tend to be tougher and more resilient than other types of stretch wraps. Another major advantage is that they have remarkable water holding capacity than other types of stretch wraps.
Why people Use Different Stretch Films
Like earlier mentioned, there are various uses to the stretch films and this mostly depends on the thickness of the stretch film. Thickness, in turn, depends mainly on the manufacturing process. Thin stretch films that are not more than 5 inches are used for holding light or small objects and boxes. Thick stretch films with about 20 inches are mostly not handmade but machine graded and can be used for wrapping heavy loads and boxes. They are also mostly used for protection purposes.

Stretch Film Wraps

Strong Wraps
Usually wraps that are machine graded, with about 20 inches thickness.
Puncture Resistant Wraps
They are wraps that are hand graded between inches of 12-20 and come with a minimum gauge (thickness measurement) of above 60 and a maximum of 150 for heavy-duty purposes and can be used in a pallet wrap dispenser to get the wrapping job done fast.
